The entire system combines to provide 148-horsepower, which is only 3-horsepower less than on the standard model.
Where the Crosstrek Hybrid model excels is its fuel economy. When you're making quick trips around Redondo Beach, you don't have to use any fuel at all. Instead, the Crosstrek Hybrid offers up to 17 miles of all-electric range with a fully charged battery. Without using the EV range, you'll get to enjoy 35 mpg combined. When you factor in the EV range, you can travel up to 90 MPGe. With a full battery and a full tank of gas, you can travel for 480 miles, allowing you to save on fuel and travel vast distances without having to fill up or charge again.
Unlike other plug-in hybrid SUVs, every new Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid model comes equipped with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, providing you with the utmost traction and control whether you're driving on the road, through bad weather, or off the beaten path on your adventures.
Charging the electric battery is simple. At home using a 120-volt charger, you can charge the battery fully in five hours. Using a 240-volt supply, you can charge it in two hours, allowing you to plug in your battery every night and have a full charge by morning.

Performance
The new Subaru Solterra is the first Subaru vehicle to use the StarDrive® powertrain. It consists of two electric motors mounted on both the front and rear axle. The system also uses a 72.8 kWh battery, which combines with the electric motors to produce 215-horsepower and 248 pounds-feet of torque. That's more power than the Crosstrek, Forester, and Outback models with their respective base engines.
The Solterra model will also come with selectable driving modes, including Normal, Exo, Power, and X-MODE, with each serving a function depending on what kind of driving you need to do at any time. Torque is instantaneous when you put your foot on the pedal, and with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, you can have great command over it.
With a fully charged battery, you can travel a range of around 220 miles in the Solterra, allowing you to enjoy outings around Torrance and far beyond without having to stop and charge again. When using an at home charger, it will take around nine hours to fully charge. If you use a DC fast charger like the ones you see around the city, charging time to up to around 80% only takes around an hour.
